Ik heb het mezelf makkelijk gemaakt en ben gewoon gaan kijken welke boeken ik de laatste tien jaar de beste beoordelingen heb gegeven. Een mens evolueert, dus waarschijnlijk zou het bij herlezen al wat anders uitdraaien.

Mijn favoriete KORTVERHALENBUNDELS van het decennium.
In romans zoek ik vooral het zachte aaien van de hartspier, de trage omarming van de personages, geestelijke getijden van eb naar vloed. Bij korte verhalen smeek ik om wilde, creatieve, fantasierijke kopstoten en wurggrepen die zich vaak rond ideeën bevinden waar men geen 300 bladzijden rond wil of kan spinnen. Anglofiel ben ik overduidelijk. Ik hou van het mooie, rijke Engels en vind vooral de Amerikanen net iets gedurfder, spitsvondiger en geestiger dan hun schrijfbroeders- en zusters buiten de VS (zeker bij korte verhalen).
Een deel van deze bundels is niet vertaald omdat de meeste Nederlandstalige uitgevers hebben bedacht dat dergelijke bundels niet lucratief zijn.
