Five years ago I was reading a novel in a coffee bar and was annoyed by the music playing in the background. It did not at all blend with the book’s atmosphere. It was distracting. So I got this idea: why not combine my two major passions in life and make playlists that associate a novel’s mood with music. Being both a music and book freak, I started to experiment with these bookish soundtracks.
So Booksounds are my own music compilations accompanying some of my favorite books. The goal is to express/intensify a certain mood, feeling or historical/geographical setting from book to music. You can listen to them while reading or -without book in hand- on a lovely sunday afternoon. The purpose is not to have a specific track for each scene or chapter in a novel. Nor do I need to put all music references inside a novel into my playlist. The quality of the music is quintessential.

Als boekenfreak heb me altijd al afgevraagd waarom er geen bijpassende cd was bij boeken.. Voila, een heerlijke ontdekking.
Ik hoop dat er meer volgt.

Vanavond interview op radio 1 gehoord. Ik kende reeds https://booktunes.wordpress.com/ maar site is niet erg uitgebreid. Bvb Haruki Murakami wordt er gecoverd maar beperkt terwijl zijn boeken vol muziek zitten. Hij had vroeger tenslotte vroeger een (jazz)muziekcafé. Ideale boeken om playlists van te maken. Boeken vragen inderdaad om muziek en omgekeerd. Heel creatief en vernieuwend project. Ik verspreid het nieuws, niet alleen bij de wurmen ook bij de muziekliefhebbers
